Patanjali University, Haridwar in Uttarakhand plans to launch PG (Post Graduate) Diploma in Yoga health and cultural tourism from academic session 2009-10. The session will
going to start July 2009. The University of Patanjali is approved by the Uttarakhand government and is operational under the aegis of Swami Ramdev.
The course comprises four fields that is yoga, health, culture and tourism. Officer on Special Duty, Patanjali University, informs, “The syllabus is designed to achieve a balance between the four components with a suitable provision to yoga and culture. As the proposed course is considered job-oriented due emphasis is put on practical exposure and imparting professional skills through hand on training.” The one-year diploma course will have two semesters with theory, practical work with project and field study. Also, there will be provisions to study a foreign language and computer applications.
YOGA (Yog) in Patanjali University
The term yoga comes from a Sanskrit word which means yoke or union.
Traditionally, yoga is a method joining the individual self with the Divine,
Universal Spirit, or Cosmic Consciousness. Physical and mental exercises are
designed to help achieve this goal, also called self-transcendence or
enlightenment.

treatments for a number of reasons. Its integration of the mental, physical, and
spiritual dimensions of human life is helpful to patients struggling with

The term culture refers to a state of intellectual development or manners. The
social and political forces that influence the growth of a human being is
defined as culture.
